From Taxi to Logistics: Aartje Finds New Job Satisfaction at 63

After many years in the taxi industry, 63‑year‑old Aartje decided it was time for a change. Although she enjoyed the interaction with different passengers, the irregular working hours and having to work during holidays started to take their toll. At first, she planned to simply work her last three years until retirement, but the feeling that something wasn’t right kept lingering.

Doubts because of her age, yet taking the leap

While browsing online, Aartje came across a vacancy in logistics at Car Lock Systems. She hesitated because of her age, but decided to call anyway. After writing a motivation letter, she was invited for an interview. To her own surprise, she was offered the job.

“I never expected that,” says Aartje. “I thought companies wouldn’t hire someone my age anymore.”

A warm welcome and much‑needed structure

The transition turned out to be a great decision. Aartje found herself in a warm and welcoming environment where colleagues were friendly and everything was explained calmly and clearly. She also rediscovered the sense of structure she had missed in her previous job.

She especially appreciates the atmosphere within the company. “Everything is celebrated here. That really makes this workplace special.”

Looking back with satisfaction, looking ahead with confidence

Aartje has now been working at Car Lock Systems for 2.5 years and says that when she looks back, she wishes she had taken this step sooner. She will reach retirement age in a year, but may continue working if things stay the same.

A message to others

Aartje hopes her story will inspire others: “If you’re older and hesitant about trying something new, just go for it. You never know where you’ll end up. For me, Car Lock Systems turned out to be a great company and I’m very happy that I dared to take this step and that they gave me this opportunity.”
